Annual Children’s Treat
Working children in the age group of 9 - 14 years will have to be rehabilitated through NCLP schools established by the Project Society. The Entire project is required to be implemented through a registered society under the Chairmanship of administrative head of the district namely, District Magistrate/Collector/Dy. Commissioner of the District. Members of the society may be drawn from concerned Government Departments, representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions, NGOs, Trade Unions, etc. GRSD is a non-Govt. organisation running one KCLRWS Project with 50 beneficiaries working in different types of hazardous and non-hazardous trade. The KCLRWS Centre is providing non-formal education with a vision to enroll them into mainstreaming with all the possible amenities. Our organisation has a target to do their admission in formal school 20% per year with a night coaching by our volunteer youths at their respective community. CHILDREN HOME UNDER COTTAGE SCHEME
Garden Reach Slum Development has started its Cottage Home for Girl, Child Namely "Sristi Nivas". This Home at Vill. Deula, P.O. Nazra, P.S. Usthi, District South 24 Parganas.
The Department of women & child Development and Social Welfare, Government of West Bengal has worked arrangements for institutionalizing these destitute children under "Cottage scheme" One House Mother is present for a unit of 25 children.
The programme includes ameliorative services of food, Shelter, Clothing, Medical attention and curative services of education, vocational training, recreation and cultural education.

SWADHAR GREH HOME DESTITUTE WOMEN
A Scheme for women in Difficult circumstances was launched by the Department of women and child Development. The scheme though the provisions of shelter, Food, Clothing, Counseling, training clinical and legal aid aims to rehabilitate such women in Difficult circumstances.
The scheme is meant to provide temporary accomodation, Maintenance and rehabilitative services to women and girls rendered homeless due to family discord, crime, violence, mental stress, social ostracism or are being forced into prostitution and are in normal danger.
GRSD is running this Home at Deula, Usthi, Diamond Harbour, South 24 Parganas. The Name of this Home "Aasra". There are 30 ready inmates present like mentally ill, Deaf and dumb, Physically Handicapped, HIV Patient, Domestic Violence etc.

Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) Open Shelter Home Need in Urban & Semi urban area's supported by Ministry of Women and Child
Open Shelter Home For children in need in Urban & Semi urban area , under Integrated Child Protection Scheme, The Ministry of Women and Child Development.
We are running open Shelter for 25 Girls. This was inaugurated on 30th January 2018. ICPS objectives and aim of the scheme is to provide integrated community based institutional basic services for the care, protection and development of destitute children such as any vulnerable child in need of care and protection, particularly beggars, street and working children, rag pickers, small vendors, street performers, orphaned, deserted, trafficked and run-away children in the age group of 6-18 years.
The scheme focuses on improving the well being of the children as well as reduction of vulnerabilities to the situations and actions that leads to neglect, abuse and exploitation providing rehabilitation through counseling & psychological support, skill development to mainstream the children in society and other support services
These open shelters, run by NGOs and State governments both are not meant to provide permanent residential facilities for children but will complement the existing institutional care facilities.
The
objectives of these open shelters include:
To institutionalize essential services and strengthen structures for emergency outreach, institutional care, family and community based care, counselling and support services at the national, regional, state and district levels.
To create database and knowledge base for child protection services, including MIS and child tracking system in the country for effective implementation and monitoring of child protection services;
To raise public awareness, educate public on child rights and protection on situation and vulnerabilities of children and families, on available child protection services, schemes and structures at all levels.
To strengthen child protection at family and community level, create and promote preventive measures to protect children from situations of vulnerability, risk and abuse:
To provide opportunities for education and develop their potential and talent.

Mid-Day Meal Programme
The Mid Day Meal is the World's largest school feeding programme reaching out to about 12 crore children in over 9.50 lakh schools/EGS Centres across the country.
The MDMS was launched on 15th August 1995 with a view to enrolment, retention, attendance, reducing drop-outs and simultaneously improving nutritional levels among primary children in class I to V. The Mid day Meal scheme has now been extended to all the areas from Hill to Jungle Mahal with a view to promoting education among the children without any caste barrier with nutritional food support to them.
Garden Reach Slum Development covering 13 Upper Primary Schools and 21 Primary Schools with students strength of about 10585. The demographic area coverage is Borough XV, Ward No. 133 - 141 in Kolkata Garden Reach.

SHELTER FOR URBAN HOMELESS FOR MALE AND FEMALE (Ward No. 135)

The Hon'ble Supreme Court of India has passed an order directing all State Governments to set up shelter for the Urban Homeless. At least 100 people shall be covered against one lakh population under one Home. The cities shall be of more than five lakh of populations. The beneficiaries shall be provided with basic amenities viz. mattress, bed roll, blanket, potable drinking water, functional latrines, first aid and primary health facilities,
deaddiction and other possible recreation facilities etc.
Our organisation GRSD has been maintaining the programme objectives are the following:
• To run Shelter for Urban Homeless by providing them necessary institutional and financial support;
• To access them with basic amenities to enable their life with dignity;
• Good monitoring and regular periodical evaluation in running shelter homes;
Our organisation GRSD maintains the norms of taking the homeless people spending their nights at shops, factories, construction sites and offices, having no shelter pulling rickshaws or other hand carts for earning their minimum livelihood, residing at the place of worships like at Masjids, Mandirs, Churchyard, even at the railway stations, pavements or the read sides and otherelse.
We run two Shelter for Homeless for Male at Ward-135 at the premises of 1-97 Rameshwar Road, Kolkata-700024 and another one for Female is at P-229/A, Tikiapara, Kolkata, Kolkata-700024 covering Ward-35 and Ward-40.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT & LIVELIHOOD SUPPORT PROGRAMME
The Department of Women Development and Social Welfare works towards the protection, equity and inclusion of populations that have been historically oppressed, neglected or excluded from development because of their gender, age, disability or situation. Besides other social vulnerable groups, women is included for providing them social security through livelihood support.
The State Government's Utkarsh Bangla (PBSSD) provides vocational training to socially marginalized women and transgender persons, at the Chief Minister's instance, the Department of Technical Education Training and Skill Development Govt. of West Bengal . This vocational training programme has been set up to train the deserving women in selected vocations to help them in suitable livelihood and economic development to cater the poverty and get entry into mainstreaming livelihood. Our organization has set up three such vocational centre where 120 trainees are getting training in the following vocations:

SELF-HELP GROUP
(MICRO-CREDIT PROGRAMME)
Self-Help Groups Programme is the women run programme who are residing at very poor settlement like off the railway track, squatter settlement, bustees and other poorer settlement in Urban areas. Each Group has some norms like consisting of particular numbers of group members, uniform monthly contribution (Rs.10--Rs.50). After six months of subscribing/contributing their amount a member is eligible to take loan @ 2% per month. The group is also eligible for taking revolving fund to cater the group and to run the group's trade practices.
In our Garden Reach area, the SHG programme is tremendously successful because of the marginalised settlement in this area. The potentiality of the programme is running common livelihood centre and bank linkages to take loan at subsidized rate of interest with two months of moratorium period. Through this programme the women got their economical empowerment as well as their identity of valid member in the family.
Under our organisational support and help, 385 group members have started their small trade practices with their proper Bank linkages for loan from Micro Credit Programme. Rashtriya Mahila Kosh is also playing a great role by giving Grant to us for our SHG Programme.

Other Programme like SWASTHA SATHI in collaboration with KMC and Govt. of West Bengal for covering unorganised sector women worker those who are the volunteer of our organisation since couple of years. GRSD runs some of Health Centres by the help and assistance of local stakeholders. Our organisation gives them periodical training to uplift them to serve the poor community. The organisation is still working and trains them with the help ofAnganwari Health Worker also.
Above all, our organisation Garden Reach Slum Development has a Mission to empower the communities and have commitment to resist the poor communities from all the possible exploitation, illegal force with the motto of establishing a society with good values, peace, justice, equality and human dignity.
We have a future plan also to run:
1. Old Age Home as we have own space in Diamond Harbour area.
2. To run Residential School with Physically Challenged children.
3. To tun Training cum Production Unit for deprived women.
4. Maternity Hospital.
